Breast Cancer Walk for Love

Hi Friends,

Love Around the World is back again, and this time with the help of Kristin Crosland, our friend who kicked Breast Cancer's butt! Our idea this time is to walk the 5 mile Stanford Dish, with our supporters donating $5 to Avon Breast Cancer Crusade for each mile our group walks. Our goal is to raise a total of $2,500! If you want to be a supporter, here is our plan:
1. Become a supporter yourself by agreeing to walk with us and/or donating $5 per mile.
2. Try to get about 5-10 people in your family or neighborhood to be supporters by agreeing to donate $5 for each mile our group walks.
3. Keep getting more people to join!

Here is some "Other Information":
Location: Stanford Dish (Alpine Road entrance)
Date: Saturday, July 26th
Time: Meet at 9:00 am
Apparel: Workout Clothes
Parents Welcome too!

If you would like to donate online, here is the link:

Lemonade and Cookies for Love!

Dear Friends,

Last weekend, my friend Finley, my sister and I did a Lemonade and Cookies stand.  We planned that all money we made we would donate to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Peninsula.  I learned about the Boys and Girls Clubs from my Dad after he was a judge for the Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year Program.  I thought that what they do is great and I decided with my friend that we would donate all of the money we made to them.  Instead of charging a price for the Lemonade and Cookies, we said, "They are free, but we welcome donations.  All donations will go to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Peninsula."  This program worked very well!  Almost everyone gave us a donation.  At the end of the afternoon, we counted our money and figured out we had made exactly $150.00!!!!!!  We were so excited because our goal was to reach $100.00 and we exceeded it by $50.00!

This experience was really fun and I felt good afterward because I knew we had made a lot of money for a great charity.

Lauren

My Third Project

Dear Friends,

For my third project, I wanted to do something for children in another country.  My Mom and I heard about a wonderful charity called Save the Children.  Save the Children's website says it works in the world's poorest countries, saving one child at a time.  I decided I wanted to help raise money for one of the most desperate countries that Save the Children helps: Syria.

I am going to ask family, friends and neighbors to donate $20 to Save the Children to help the refugees in Syria.  $20 will provide a Student Kit that has pencils, paper, backpacks and other supplies that children need to learn.

If you would like to donate $20 or whatever amount you would like, you can do it on the Save the Children website or give it to me and I will donate it to Save the Children.

Lauren

Clothes4Souls

Dear Friends,

We had piles and piles of gently used clothes to send to Clothes4Souls!  I hope the children and families who receive them will be happy.

I thought this was a very fun project and it helped us organize our closets and get ready for Spring.

Lauren

My Next Project

Dear Friends,

Haven Family House was so much fun!  Thank you to my friends who donated toys and came with me on the trip to Haven Family House.  I am thinking that my next project will be to donate gently used clothes to a charity I heard about called Clothes4Souls.  I think this will really help needy people in the world.  It is sad that so many people cannot afford clothes.

If you have any extra clothes that are gently worn and still have a few years left in them, then maybe you can donate them!  Please let me know and my mom and I will pick them up.  Then we will send them to Clothes4Souls.

Lauren

Haven Family House

Hi Friends!

Today some of my friends and I went to Haven Family House.  It is a shelter for families who have lost their homes.  It has a preschool and very nice people to help.  We dropped off a lot of presents!  The presents will be put in a closet called the gift closet and when children come to live there, their parents can choose a gift for them from the closet on their birthday or other special days.  I think it is really nice to give other kids presents!  It makes me feel good and I hope it makes them feel good too.

Lauren

My First Project!

Dear Friends,

I am starting a non-profit group called Love Around the World.  We will help children and families around the world in small ways, like making dresses or shoes and giving presents away.

The first project I am hoping to do is collecting holiday presents from friends and donating them to a local homeless shelter.  Do you have any presents that you don't like as much as others or that you might not play with that much?  Because that would be great if you were willing to give them away!  I think this will really help children in need.

Yours truly,
Lauren
